Postpartum Freeezer Meals

Because cooking should be the last thing on your mind when you’re soaking up newborn snuggles.

As I write this, I’m 38 weeks pregnant and officially in nesting overdrive. Yesterday I prepped over six freezer meals. My kitchen looked like a tornado hit it, but it was so worth it. Knowing that we’ll have healthy, comforting meals ready to go after baby arrives gives me so much peace of mind.

If you’re in your third trimester and want to set yourself up for an easier postpartum season, freezer meals are a total game changer. Here’s how I prepped mine and what’s on my list!

Why Freezer Meals Are a Lifesaver Postpartum

Postpartum is beautiful, but it’s also messy, emotional, and exhausting. Between feeding the baby, adjusting to your new normal, and surviving on coffee, the last thing you’ll want to do is cook from scratch.

Having ready-to-go meals means:

  • Less time standing in the kitchen

  • Healthier choices when you’re too tired to cook

  • No scrambling to figure out dinner during witching hour

  • More time to rest, recover, and bond with your baby

How I Prepped Mine

I kept things simple but efficient. Here’s what worked for me:

  • Subbed low-fat meats and low-carb tortillas where I could.

  • Labeled each freezer bag with the meal name and cooking directions.

  • Double-bagged everything to prevent leaks and spills.

  • Stacked flat in the freezer for easy storage and quick thawing.

You can prep all of these in one day. Just play your favorite podcast and make it a nesting day!
